Nothing Says Spring Like Hazardous Waste Collection Day – April 3

Did your early spring cleaning net some nasty chemicals and stuff that you can’t throw away in your regular trash? Don’t even attempt to put it down the septic and drains–the wetlands will find you …have you seen the Creature from the Black Lagoon? Well, it was filmed here in Weston, and that was because of all the Rodeo herbicide spray that got let loose in the Weston Reservoir.

Yes, okay, clearly the Owl is itching for April Fool’s Day and it is really super hard to joke about evil chemical stuff. So here’s the straight and narrow. Weston’s Department of Public Works is hosting the nth annual hazardous waste collection day on Saturday, April 3 from 9 am to 1 pm at their facility at 190 Boston Post Road Bypass. Note: you must be a Weston resident to drop off the nasty stuff.

Here is the list of what you may bring:

* = no latex paint (see below)

Below is the list of what YOU MAY NOT BRING. Editorial comment: if you feel that you must bring ammunition or explosives, give a call over to the DPW’s neighbors, the Weston Police Department, and see if they want it. Do not leave it lying around your garage. I know, I know, it seems obvious. Also, who in Weston has radioactive waste lying around? Never mind.

If you are worried about the yuckies getting out and about in your Tesla or souped-up VW Beetle (it could happen), here are some pointers on yucky stuff transport from the folks in charge in Weston. Not me.

Finally, do not bring latex paint. That can be dried out or mixed with kitty litter (who knew?) and put in the trash. If you have any questions about all of this, please check the Town of Weston website or give a call over to the fine folks at the Weston Department of Public Works at 781-786-5100.
