Last Day for Leaftopia and First Day for Bulky Waste Pricing

It seems unlikely that any Westonian is yet unaware of the Transfer Station change to Bulky Waste pricing today, May 1, 2021. In case you are, you can read a past Owl where the reasons why Weston is the queen of the pigs are outlined. The Owl is, unfortunately, unable to send a crack reporter to see how things go there on Church Street, mostly because there is a triple header of Owlet soccer-soccer-baseball today.

The Town of Weston just sent out information on some places that may like your cast-offs, at least until the Swap Shed opens, sometime around I-have-no-idea. The Fresh Start Furniture Bank in Hudson loves your in-good-condition household items and furniture–drop-off is on Saturday mornings and by appointment. Fresh Start is a volunteer-run charity that helps restore hope, dignity, and stability by recycling donated furniture and housewares, for free, to people in need. Their secondary goal is to keep these items out of the waste stream. You can find out more here.
Today is also the last day this spring for Leaftopia (aka the Brush Dump but don’t tell your leaves; it hurts their feelings) on Merriam Street. You must have a Transfer Station or Recycling sticker and be nice to Steve. Remember that everyone gets a little crazy after communicating only with compost and leaves all day. Bring him some donuts.
Happy May Day, Weston!
