Weston Pride: Coming to a Front Yard Near You
Weston residents Melanie Larson and Robert Baker are leading the charge on bringing Pride month lawn signs to the front yards of those who are interested in participating.
“We think Weston is a town where some people would like to put up a unified yard sign in acknowledgment and support for Pride montth,” said Melanie Larson. “We ordered 100 yard signs and are planning to hand them out on a first come-first serve basis, as long as there is inventory.” There is not charge for the signs.
For those who are not aware, Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States, according to the Library of Congress. You can read more about the national events and celebrations here.
Any Westonian interested in a yard sign can use this link to request it. If you have any questions unrelated to a sign request, please send an email to email@example.com.
“I would love it if someday Weston decided to hold an annual Pride event like some of the other towns nearby,” said Melanie. I am hopeful that this is the first step towards that.”
