Tax-Free Weekend in Massachusetts: Ready, Set, Shop

Before you go out and buy a new iPhone 40000000 today, keep in mind that tomorrow and Sunday (August 14 and 15) are part of the tax-free weekend here in the Bay State. As long as you keep that individual purchase under $2500, you can save that 6.25% and put it into a college savings account. Yay!
There are a multitude of restrictions and steam, gas and electricity are excluded. I am not kidding–those are listed on the state information page here. There is also an exemption for clothing: “An item of clothing is generally exempt from the sales tax unless the item costs more than $175. If it does, only the amount over $175 is subject to tax. If on the sales tax holiday, the price of an item of clothing exceeds $2,500, the first $175 is not subject to tax.” Got it? Good.
Consider supporting your local businesses. Sales tax holiday also counts online, fyi.
