Wildcats Leap into Fall Season

After a bizarre and largely canceled fall season last year, Weston’s town and school sports are back in action. Or will be once these hurricanes stop messing with the schedule. Many high school sports teams are in the middle of a pre-season scrimmage week, while two have “real” games starting Friday and Saturday.

Today WHS has a field hockey scrimmage against Lexington (away), while girls soccer (should this be women’s soccer? not sure my semantics here) and boys soccer (ummm, men’s?) have home scrimmages against Dover-Sherborn (Proctor at 4 pm) and Ashland (Turf Field #1 at 6 pm). The volleyball team is on the road tomorrow at Wellesley at 3:30 pm while the Wildcat football team takes on Dedham tomorrow at 6 pm at Proctor field. If you are interested in the latest schedule for Weston Athletics, you can check here at Arbiter Live, or follow Athletic Director Mike McGrath’s twitter feed at @WestonAthletic.Wayland-Weston Rowing is not included on Arbiter Live but you can find their tentative regatta schedule here.

According to AD McGrath, Middle School sports will begin on Thursday, September 9th.  Fall sports for middle school are: Football, Boys & Girls Soccer, Boys & Girls Cross Country, Field Hockey and Girls Volleyball. As a personal note, the Owl is really happy to see middle school sports back this year after cancelation last year. There is also rowing for middle schoolers but I am too lazy to look up the schedule.

In other town sports news, the BAYS soccer teams will have games already on September 11…you can get your kids’ schedules here: https://bays.org/bays/organizations/view/WSC. What else? Let me know.

Go ‘cats of all ages!
