Update October 22, 2021: $15,000 was raised for Camp Sunshine! Nice work, students! See here.

On Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 12-4 pm (Rain date is Sunday, October 17), the Town Green will be transformed by the Weston High School Pumpkin Festival Committee into a Halloween and fall-themed extravaganza. The annual WHS Pumpkin Festival is back for its 17th year, so bring your families and be prepared to de-goo a pumpkin, carve it, and bring it home. Make sure you dress the littles in costume so they can test-run before their actual trick-or-treat!

In addition to pumpkin carving, there will be arts and crafts, wish cards, games and face painting. Apparently, someone named “The Bubble Man” will also be joining the party–he gets top billing from the organizers before our town’s finest, the Weston Police and Fire Departments. No word yet on who will drive across the Town Green, ripping up the nice grass and being blamed for it by all the other departments. Yes, that happened about 4 years ago–wait, maybe that was Spring Fling. Oh well, fake news.

Back to Pumpkinfest. There will also be food sales and a silent auction. An Owlet will also be there accepting feedback on behalf of the Owl. Oh just kidding, he pretends I don’t exist. All proceeds benefit Camp Sunshine, a camp for young people dealing with terminal illnesses. If you would like to learn more about Camp Sunshine, please use this link. If you are unable to attend this event and still want to support the students in their efforts to raise money for Camp Sunshine, please consider donating to the JustGiving page.

Per the Weston Board of Health, if you are experiencing Covid-like symptoms, stay at home, give online, and join next year. Masking is encouraged, but not required, for outdoor gatherings. Masks are required should you need to go inside Town Hall to use the restrooms.

In addition, tonight at the California Pizza Kitchen in Wellesley, you can eat AND support Pumpkinfest’s fundraising for Camp Sunshine. Order takeout and munch out while listening into tonight’s School Committee.
