Cultural Council Grant Deadline Extended to November 1

The Massachusetts Cultural Council has extended the deadline to submit grants for local arts- and culture-related events, talks, performances, installations, etc. from October 15 to November 1, 2021. And in case you’re one of those folks who waits until the last possible second, note that it is November 1 at 11:59 pm. Go, night owls! I am a morning owl. A crepuscular owl.
The scope of Weston grants is broad, including activities, events, talks, performances, and projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences:
· Arts: performing, visual, media, folk, design, interdisciplinary.
· Humanities: history, social studies, philosophy, criticism, literature.
· Interpretive sciences: engaging the public in nature, science, and technology.
In 2021, the WCC awarded more than $11,500 to 15 individuals and organizations. Typically, grants range from around $200 to $750.
The Cultural Council encourages programs and events that occur in Weston, but accept applications for programs outside of town, if they provide a benefit for Weston residents. If anyone has gone to the recent farm animal or snake events (not on same day poor goats) at the Spellman or is planning to attend the upcoming programs there this weekend (OWLS on SUNDAY!!), these have been supported by Cultural Council grants.

Have you been thinking of an art or music event? Want to invite a favoritte author to talk? Have an interpretive event about foraging or science-y stuff?
