Barring inevitable surprises, Weston High School (and Middle School) Athletics are back this week–with an extremely full schedule of games and matches at home and away. All winter sports student-athletes have committed to weekly Covid testing on Mondays and Tuesdays, and follow stringent mask requirements during their games and matches. As an editorial comment, you have got to be impressed with these young women and men for the commitment and enthusiasm they have for their sports–not sure you have ever played basketball full-court with a mask on but it is NOT easy. For some of us, playing basketball without a mask is challenge enough.

Most school sports facilities do not allow more than two spectators per athlete at this time–and some do not allow spectators at all. If you are interested in catching the Wildcats in action, please contact the coaches of the athletic teams to understand where and when you can be there. There are no spectators for the Dual Meet for Indoor Track today.

In addition, as outlined by Athletic Director Mike McGrath, Weston follows a Return to Play protocol. Specifically, athletes who tested positive for Covid, have completed their 5-day school quarantine, and are returning to school on Days 6-10 may not yet return to play. In other words, student-athletes who have tested positive must quarantine from their respective sport for the full 10 days. All student-athletes can return to play on Day 11.

Weston student-athletes deserve much respect for all they do in pursuit of their sports. You can follow Weston Athletics on twitter here: https://twitter.com/WestonAthletic.
