HS Quiz Show Team Looking for Support from Weston Community

Weston High School’s Quiz Show team will be back on air this March, taking on Mystic Valley Charter in the first round of this fun and challenging High School Quiz Show. For those unfamiliar with the show, local station WGBH’s High School Quiz Show® is a single-elimination academic team competition for all high school students in Massachusetts. This is not Jeopardy, folks, nor Trivial Pursuit: questions on the show are “aligned” with the Massachusetts high school curriculum standards in subjects that include literature, history, civics, science, geography, vocabulary and math, as well as current events and general knowledge. Basically, those of us a few years out of high school (ahem) may be completely clueless but Weston students totally rock it.

Last year, the Wildcats made it to the quarterfinals, where they were knocked out by the Belmont Marauders. Wait, seriously? Marauders? Okay, well, go with it–better than pirates, I suppose. You can watch last season in all its glory at the Quiz Show website. This year, Weston takes on the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School Eagles in the first round which will be telecast on March 26.

The Weston High School Quiz Show ’22 team includes seniors Reid Betty, Benny Gilligan, William Houston, and Jessie Yuan with alternates Claire Kakabeeke and Finley Campbell. They need Weston’s support now — on Friday, January 28 at 5 PM, there will be a Weston High School Audience Zoom which you can register for using the link below. The session will last at most 30 minutes, the students will appreciate it, and you’ll get to see yourself on television on March 26 during the team’s match against Mystic Valley Charter School. Here’s the fine print from Quiz Show:
