Council on Aging Life Transitions Binder Workshop Starts Next Week

The Owl will take this moment to admit to an addiction not to alcohol (Dry January, hello), drugs (just say no) or even CAKE (okay, that one is marginal) but to binders. Yes, binders. Is there anything better than pulling an organized binder off of your shelf with tabs where you can flip to a subject, for example “paint colors of house interior” and flip it around to show someone how absolutely dedicated you are to organization? No, there is nothing better so fight me, google docs–you are a mess.

Imagine my joy to see this workshop coming up with Weston’s Council on Aging that comes with your own INDIVIDUALIZED BINDER? Titled “Life Transition Binder Workshop”, this is the way to go if you don’t, as they used to euphemistically say, “have your affairs in order.” No, we are not suggesting you are on the downhill run but…sometimes things are unpredictable and you definitely don’t want to leave your family to figure out where all the important stuff is. They will be confused enough about your sock drawer (note to the Owlets: just upend it and send it to textile recycling).

Here’s the official write-up from the COA:

“Could your family easily step in and help you manage your affairs if you need assistance? Are all your important details organized in one place so your family can easily access it if you were incapacitated? In this five-class series, Sandra Batra will guide you in creating a customized “life binder” incorporating all your important life details including personal data, property, financial, retirement/Investment, insurance, medical and service provider information. Take control and act now so your family has the information they need in the event of an emergency. This binder will give you and your loved ones peace of mind and provide them with direction and guidance. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register. Cost: $25 per person includes customized binder.”

The five-meeting workshop will take place on Tuesdays from 10-11:30 am. The first session is by zoom and then in person. Tuesday, February 8, 10:00-11:30 on Zoom Tuesdays, February 22, March 8 & 22 and April 5, 10:00-11:30 at the COA (20 Alphabet Lane).

As a side note, I am so completely impressed with the accessible price of the workshop. This is high value stuff, Weston. You get a BINDER and it is YOUR BINDER and it is organized. Do it.
