Dover-Sherborn/Weston HS Boys Hockey Back in the Playoffs Tonight, Seeking Loud Fans

Update: Dover-Sherborn/Weston beat the Chicopee Comp Colts by a score of 6-4, and would like to thank all of the fans who heeded the callout and come out to cheer them on! Go ‘cats and RaiderCats!

At the risk of seeming like the Owl only enjoys school athletic news, we (ahem, I) have been informed during an irregularly-scheduled afternoon run that the Dover-Sherborn/Weston (DS-W) boys hockey team has a VERY BIG GAME (VBG) tonight at 6:30 pm at Rivers School in Weston. Yes, right down the street. It is the Division 4 Hockey Playoffs, folks, and it is time for the RaiderCats to get some major respect. Dover Sherborn has not been in the postseason since 2017 and Weston since 2015.

The #16 ranked DS-W team will be meeting the Chicopee Comp Colts (Who wins? Hooves or claws? I know) who are ranked #17, and recently listed as the “top smaller program this season in Western Massachusetts” in HNIB News. I have an issue with this–when did the Springfield area become Western Massachusetts? That be Central. At 1,375 students, it is almost exactly the same size as the combined DS-W high schools.

In any case, the word on the street and double-checked with our Athletic Director is that there are two busloads of fans on their way to support the ponies. Apparently, their band is coming too. So, Weston (and DS), take your own bus (aka the Escalade or the Navigator or whatever monster truck you have) and get down to Rivers tonight at 6:30 pm to cheer on our athletes.

There are three seniors on the varsity roster–one from Weston (co-captain Connor Burke) and two from Dover-Sherborn (co-captain Caden Popiel and forward Marcus Roman). I have only one photo also stolen from the twitter page. What can I say? This took me by surprise.

Go DS-W!
