Get Outside at College Pond with WFTA This Sunday April 3
On Sunday, April 3rd at 2 PM, join the town’s best nonprofit trails organization (also only, but who needs to know that?) on an exploration of the College Pond conservation area. The trail walk starts at Burchard Park, wanders some of the outskirts of the Campion Center, through fields, and across the famous Troll Bridge where you can see the flooding that beavers cause. From there, walkers will step into the lands that once belonged to Herbert Merriam.
Check out the new sign at Merriam’s barn ruin, and walk down WFTA’s newest trail–all 25 feet of it. Walkers will also enjoy a view of the apple orchard which is newly trimmed from last weekend’s Stewardship Saturday before walking back along the dam where Butch the Blue Heron hangs out with his friends the red-winged blackbirds.
All ages are welcome, as are well-behaved dogs on leash. Walkers need not be Weston Forest and Trail Association members, but we encourage you to consider joining at www.westonforesttrail.org, as dues support the maintenance of Weston’s trails and open spaces. WFTA has been hosting Sunday Walks for over sixty years.
Please park at the Burchard Park tennis courts (269 Concord Road).
Check the website (www.westonforesttrail.org) for any last-minute changes or developments.
