Under the Stars – WHS Junior Prom is Back on Saturday May 14

After a hiatus for the pandemic (and an adjusted event last year), Weston High School’s junior prom is back “Under the Stars” at the Museum of Science in Boston on Saturday, May 14. Note that Weston does not have a “senior” prom (okay, technically we do–it’s called the Black and White Ball) but juniors and seniors are invited to Junior Prom. Parent advisors for the Class of 2023 emphasize that you do not need a date for prom–come alone, come in pairs, or come with a group. Then boogie down next to Cliff the Triceratops. I just got an Owlet eye roll for “boogie down” so I am winning it today.

Most of us have some good, bad, funny, or bittersweet memories of prom. Probably all of those all together. Very few of us regret going to prom–more likely it is the opposite. In my high school (go Rams!), we had junior prom separated from senior prom, and just to date myself with all the joy in the world because the 80s were fun–I had a Gunne Sax junior prom dress and a gold senior prom dress for the themed “Wonderful Tonight” event. No photos are available at this time no matter what the Grand Owl may tell you. To one event I went with a group of friends (senior prom) and for one I had a ‘date’. There is no right or wrong here…it’s just prom and one of the events that marks your high school life.

Please note, parents/guardians of Junior and Senior class students, the Owl would love to publish any prom photos you feel like sending her way. Please send to thewestonowl@gmail.com and make sure you have the permission of anyone pictured, or their guardian’s permission.

Here’s some of the info that Junior and Senior Parents & Guardians may already know:
