Town Meeting Tonight at WHS Auditorium 7 pm

Just a reminder, per request of the Town, to mention one more time that Town Meeting is tonight, May 9 at 7 pm at the Weston High School auditorium. You must be present in-person to vote. As I have said before and will say again, regardless of what happens tonight (or Wednesday if it goes to a second night) and if things go one way or another, we are all caring and careful residents of this town. Exercise your right to vote!

Annual Town Meeting

Town Meeting will be called to order on Monday, May 9, 2022 in the High School Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. A special “Know the Issues” web page has been set up  at WestonMA.gov/TownMeeting. This web page serves as an online resource to assist voters in finding additional information on various projects and issues coming before Town Meeting vote.

Warrant and Budget Book

The Warrant and Budget Book is available on the Know the Issues web page and has been mailed to all Weston households. This document has the FY23 Proposed Operating Budget, reports from the Finance Committee, Select Board, School Committee, and of course the Town Meeting Warrant.

Consent Agenda

Articles 3 – 22 of the Annual Town Meeting Warrant have been bundled into a Consent Agenda. All articles within the consent agenda will be taken under one vote unless there are requests from at least 10 people to remove an article so it can be heard and voted on separately.

New to Town Meeting?

Welcome! Weston’s form of government is conducted in an Open Town Meeting, Board of Selectmen, and Town Manager form. Town Meeting is a legislative procedure unique to New England towns. If you are unfamiliar with Town Meeting, you may find the following helpful:

Voting Handsets

Electronic handset voting will be in use at Annual Town Meeting. All eligible voters will receive their registered device upon check-in. This handset is for your exclusive use to cast your vote for each warrant article.

Allow Yourself Enough Time

Be sure to leave enough time for parking at the High School and for check-in with the polling clerks. The handsets also require a few minutes to sync with the system before they can be used to cast a vote.

Instructions on how to use the handset are available at WestonMA.gov/TownMeeting and will also be available at Town Meeting.  A short amount of time will also be given at the start of the evening to explain the electronic voting process.

Masks are Encouraged

There will be additional seating in the Gymnasium and the opportunity to maintain social distancing. The Town of Weston encourages attendees to wear a face mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
