Local Media: Meet BOStoday

So, the Owl is going to let you in on a little secret. Sometimes I find my content elsewhere. Yes, SHOCKING! It turns out that there is no actual way for one person to keep up even with Weston (true–as I watch Select Board videos on a Thursday night–this is not sustainable, folks). There is a lot of fun to be had in our fair town, but sometimes, just sometimes, one thinks…”there must be more to life than metrowest and the Owl’s favorite W and C and L towns.”
For information about what is going on in the “big” city to our east, I look first not at the Boston Globe but BOStoday’s emailed newsletter. BOStoday was forwarded to me by Brother Owl, himself a resident of the metropolis on the bay, which apparently considers itself a real city (see this Onion for the view from New Yorkers).
BOStoday is everything that makes me happy–organized, fun, and diverse. Today’s newsletter is about how to support black-owned businesses, as well as local happenings in and around Cambridge and Boston. Does it skew young for beer tastings and concerts? Yes. But it really has something for everyone. The Owl feels a great deal of envy for their coverage. Hey, BOStoday, if anyone needs a metrowest beat because they’re moving out to the boring semi-ruralness that I love, please let me know.
As of now, the newsletter and website access are free. I suggest subscribing to the newsletter and if you like what you see (and you will), become a member. Support local media or don’t have any. You choose.
You can find BOStoday’s website here: https://bostoday.6amcity.com/. And there are other cities in the 6amcity family–the Owl also subscribes to San Diego for no apparent reason.
Happy reading!
