Sugar Shock Monday: PTO Ice Cream Social and Cone with a Cop
Monday, August 29 seems to be a magical day for ice cream here in Weston with two free ice cream events in one afternoon. The Owl perused the National Day of Whatever calendar but the only thing written is National Chop Suey day so that’s not it. There is also the WCCA Sports Equipment Swap from 4-6 pm so get ready to ricochet the kids. Drive slowly or some of those cones could backfire. Also, police are involved.
First up on Monday, the PTO hosts its Ice Cream Social from 3:30 to 5 pm at the Field School playground. In general, this event seems to be geared towards new families and PTO folks (thank you, PTO Volunteers, you deserve ALL the ice cream). [The following info has been added per correction by the awesome PTO Chair Gail Palmer]
BACK-TO-SCHOOL ICE CREAM SOCIAL FOR WESTON FAMILIES
Hosted by the Weston PTO
Come enjoy delicious ice cream and fun playground time with new and old friends as we celebrate the start of the school year! This is a wonderful opportunity for new families in town to meet friends, and for existing families to reconnect with old friends. A variety of allergy friendly, individually packaged ice cream treats will be provided by VeeBop’s Ice Cream Truck. L
Then from 5 – 6 pm, you can enjoy a Cone with a Cop at the one and only Dairy Joy, Weston’s favorite roadside “shack.” If you are 12 or under, the Cops pay for it. If you are 13 or older, bring cash because no cards are accepted at the Joy. If you are K9 Knox you can get a doggie cone for free by just fixing that shepherd gaze on the cashier.
If you have time between all the ice cream eating, check out the WCCA Sports Equipment swap at Lamson Park from 4-6 pm. Might as well live large on these last days of freedom!
