Support Your Local Library: Join Friends of the Weston Public Library

Did you know that the Friends of the Weston Public Library have supported the Library for 57 years? That’s a pretty amazing number. The Friends invite you to join them and help this community resource continue to be a vibrant educational and cultural hub.
The Friends of the Weston Public Library (FWPL) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which has a mission of raising money for Library programming, services, and resources. There is a secondary mission, unwritten, which is to make the Owl chubbier by once or twice a year holding an amazing bake sale. And thirdly, also unwritten, the Friends remind us all that the Library is a wonderful quiet respite from crazy–just two days ago the Owl stopped in for an hour to read a mystery in a comfortable chair far from her madding house. In addition, the Friends supports Library programming, including at the main Library and its maker space branch, the Weston Art & Innovation Center (AIC).

Last year, the Friends raised over $53,000. 318 members donated $33,770. Thank you to FWPL Members and the community for supporting the book and bake sales– the Fall and Summer Book and Bake sales, combined with the Valentine’s Day bake sale and Book cart raised nearly $20,000. Half of that was in my cake purchases (no, not really) All of these funds go directly to the Library, enabling it to enrich the community with speakers, concerts, exhibits, and many more opportunities for learning and enjoyment not otherwise funded by the town budget.
