Get Involved at Weston’s First Nonprofit Summit September 30

The Weston Community Children’s Association (WCCA) invites everyone in town, whether they have children or not to their first Nonprofit Summit, also known as a Volunteer Fair, on Friday September 30 from 4-6 pm. A number of local organizations will be there talking about what they do, and why, and how you might get involved.
For example, Weston Forest & Trail Association will be there with information about trails, scavenger hunts, how to volunteer, and how to become one of the elite corps of Junior Rangers. We also welcome the “doo-doo” conversation which seems to evolve every time we are at a fair–this involves complaints about dog poo and dog poo bags on the trails. One thing we’ve discovered is that small fry can talk a lot about poo. Therefore we are bringing our fake poo (scat from local wildlife) for identification and shrieking fun. WFTA has a nice Owl stuffy and a fake owl pellet which also lend themselves to much fun.
Other local organizations which will be there (and may or may not enjoy poo conversations) are Land’s Sake, the Rotary Club of Weston and Wayland, Cradles & Crayons and Hope and Comfort, among others. While the Weston Owl was not invited (and I assure you that this is entirely nonprofit though not really), she will likely show up to see what else is going on around town. And to recruit tiny journalists, who have quite a bit to say…much more than teenage owlets anyway.
So if you’re new to town, or want to get involved or get your kids involved in one of the many cool organizations in our area, come on out!
