Seeing the Stars in Weston: Astronomy Night October 19

The Weston Grade 6-12 Science Department, Weston PTO, and Weston STEM Council invite community members to the First Annual Astronomy Night on Wednesday, October 19th starting 6:30 pm in the Science Atrium at Weston High School (aka, the only part of the high school that should not be blown up and started anew).

The program will start in the Science Atrium with hot chocolate and cookies, then move into the GEC [Ed. no one sent the acronym meaning of this to the Owl so I shall make up the long version–the Greater Elf Conservatory] for a short talk on Astronomy, followed by gazing at the night sky. This is a great opportunity to learn a little about Astronomy, meet some of the amazing WPS Science educators, and have some fun with the family.

Open to the whole Weston community, with a focus on Middle and High School families and students. The event is expected to last about two hours. Rain date will be set within a week of October 19th, if possible, with the actual time and date being weather and sky-visibility dependent.

If you have any questions or plan on bringing a telescope and are willing to help with the event, please contact Dr. Rich Warby at warbyr@weston.org
