WHS Girls Volleyball Team in Final Four Wednesday, November 16

Update November 16, 10 am: This post has been updated to reflect comments from WHS Girls Volleyball Coach Eileen Leblanc, who is in her second year coaching the Wildcats.
The WHS Girls Volleyball team is continuing its exciting Division 4 playoff run as the ‘cats move on to the Final Four after a win over #4-ranked Nipmuc on Saturday, November 12. On Wednesday, November 16 at 6:30 pm, the #5-ranked Wildcats will take on the #1-ranked Ipswich Tigers in an epic battle on neutral turf (Tewsksbury High School). The team is captained by Seniors Ella Sweeney and Lila Jylkka and Juniors Katya Marchant and Jessica Shin.
“The Weston volleyball program is growing; we only had 1 team last year with 20 girls, and this year we were able to field both a JV and Varsity program,” said Coach Eileen Leblanc. “Part of our growth is a credit to the middle school program that is also growing and giving the girls their first introduction to organized volleyball. The middle school program is headed by Chris Fraser and I am very grateful to him for working with the high school program to support and bring our programs together.”
“This year’s team has shown their never-give-up attitude repeatedly over the season,” said Coach Eileen Leblanc. “We have been down multiple times and the team kept fighting to force 5th sets and then the majority of the time a game win.”
“I truly believe they are the most resilient team in the state. Having an incredibly hard league that we play in as well as overall schedule has positioned us well for this state championship run. The future of the team and program is looking bright!”
