Christmas Eve Around Weston

It’s the season of lights and hope and community. I hope that everyone has plans with family and friends, and if not, will join in one of the community and/or churchy events below. I know this season is not easy for many folks, and I hope everyone keeps an eye (and heart) out for those who might like some company.

The following events and services have been sent to the Owl (if you would like to include another event, please send an email to thewestonowl@gmail.com).

Christmas Eve Services and Events:

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church: 3:00 p.m. ‘No Rehearsal Christmas Pageant’. Calling all angels, shepherds, animals and wise men! We’ll provide the costumes and narration, you play the parts. No rehearsal necessary, just arrive at 2:15 p.m. for casting. The service will include hymns and communion. 5:30 p.m. ‘Choral Eucharist’ Musical prelude including hymns and choir begins at 5:00 p.m. and the Service of Holy Eucharist begins at 5:30. All are welcome. 320 Boston Post Road, Weston.

First Parish Church: Traditional Service of Lessons & Carols ~ 4:00 pm  &  6:00 pm: traditional Service of Lessons and Carols, including beautiful carols, songs, a Christmas message, and concluding with singing Silent Night and then Joy to the World. You must pre-register for either service. United Methodist Church, 5:30 pm. Christmas Eve service with candlelight, lessons & carols. 377 North Avenue.

St, Julia’s Christmas Eve Mass: 4:00PM (also Livestreamed in Parish Center Hall);  and 8:00PM – St. Julia Church, 374 Boston Post Road.

St. Anne’s-in-the-Fields of Lincoln. 3 pm Christmas Eve services begin at 3 pm on Saturday, December 24, with our Daylight Eucharist with Carols & Pageant. Come witness the story of Jesus’s birth and join in the singing of some beloved carols, all before the day darkens into night driving. We will continue worship with two additional Holy Eucharists at 5 pm and 8 pm; these times with our choir singing Advent hymns, leading us in carols and culminating in a candlelit singing of “Silent Night.” We welcome everyone from all walks of life and faith. Carols at the Josiah Smith Tavern. 7 pm. Gather at the barn area. Non-denominational. Bring a candle or a flashlight to share.

Christmas Day Services:

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church: 10:00 a.m. Christmas Day Holy Eucharist with hymns and sermon. 320 Boston Post Road.

First Parish Church: Christmas worship. 10:30 am. Join a special worship service on Christmas morning by the fireplace with stories, music, and carols. This brief but festive service will be followed by some special Yuletide refreshments. Hosted by Jeff Barz-Snell and featuring TJ Rufo and Sharyn Brown leading the attendees in music and song. 349 Boston Post Road.

United Methodist Church: 10:30 am. – Christmas ugly sweater/pajama church. Hear the Christmas story in a new way and wear your ugliest Christmas gear and/or jammies. 377 North Avenue

St. Juia’s Church Christmas Day Mass, 9:30AM and 11:30AM (No 5:00PM) – St. Julia’s Church, 374 Boston Post Road
