Things have been busy the last couple of days so I’ve had little time to work on my next startling exposé on our little town…and so, I would like to thank Wild Care Cape Cod, my new favorite wildlife rescue center (thanks to all of you who helped me birthday-fundraise for them in December), for providing this information which I copy here verbatim from their Facebook page.

Today’s the day to celebrate and go nuts for our favorite bushy-tailed friend – the squirrel! January 21st is National Squirrel Appreciation Day, a day to encourage kindness towards squirrels by setting out their favorite foods and allowing them to linger just a little longer at the backyard bird feeder spilling all the bounty out onto the ground to enjoy and store away for another day.

Massachusetts is home to a variety of squirrels including – Eastern Gray Squirrels, American Red Squirrels, Flying Squirrels, Chipmunks and Woodchucks. To learn more about squirrels, their history, and get some fun ideas on how to celebrate National Squirrel Day check out this website: https://nationaltoday.com/national-squirrel-appreciation…/

And there you have it. Be kind to squirrels day–someone please inform the neighborhood red-tailed hawk to stop her snacking. a bit.
