In addition, you can sign up for a zoom this week on March 9, 7-8 pm, with Adria Arch, who the Owl just learned is a sculptor as well as an awesome acrylic painting teacher (the Owl took two classes with Ms. Arch). She will discuss her new exhibit, Sirens and Sentinels, which is at Boston Sculptors Gallery, on view through April 2. Adria will talk about her journey from being an award-winning painter to a museum-exhibiting sculptor. This lively program will include images of her work through the past five years to the present. You can RSVP for that program here.
Here’s a quick look at two of the AIC’s upcoming classes–one art, and one culinary art:

From Drawing to Painting : 8 Wednesdays starting Mar 29 (Mar 29, Apr 5, 12, 19 & 26, May 3, 10 & 17) (10:30 am-12:30 pm). This series is designed for beginner to intermediate or those looking to re-ignite their creative skills. The Owl took this class last fall and LOVED it. Drawing is tough. Painting comes a bit more naturally over here.
Part 1: the first four sessions will focus on the basics of drawing and observational skills through exercises focusing on line, shape, form, and value. Our conversations will cover basic drawing supplies. Most of our drawing work will focus on dry media, including but not limited to graphite charcoal and colored pencils.
Part 2: the second four sessions will build on our drawing foundation and move into introductory painting skills. Wet media options will include watercolor, gouache and/or acrylic paints. Composition, color value, color mixing demos and experiments will allow you to play with paint and build confidence. We will experiment with realistic an abstract exercises. Come with an open mind, be prepared to get messy, experiment and play! Registration closes Mar 25. A list of suggested materials will be sent after registration. Cost: $275. You can find out more or register here.
