Women in World Jazz: A Concert for All, March 31

.

The Weston Council on Aging presents Women in World Jazz on Friday, March 31 at 7 pm at the Weston Community Center, 20 Alphabet Lane. You can bring the entire family to boogie down, or sit quietly in your chair or anything in between. This is a judgement-free zone, though never ever a cell-phone-camera-free zone so prepare for tik-tok stardom.

The Women in World Jazz program features an international ensemble of all-female performers showcasing music from around the world. The concert includes musical styles from Cuba’s cha cha to Cape Verde’s Coladeira as well as songs from Israel, Brazil and Japan, mixed in with jazz favorites.

The ensemble’s goal is to give the audience a taste of different cultures from around the globe through the expression of music and dance. Each performer has an extensive background in music education and performance in the New England area.

All ages are welcome. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Weston Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
