As posted earlier this month in the Owl, Special Olympics of Massachusetts will be playing a number of their State Basketball Tournament Playoffs here in Weston on April 2. The Owl has been asked to post the following call for volunteers and spectators by the class advisors of the fabulous WHS Class of 2023.

The Special Olympics of Massachusetts (SOMA) State Basketball Tournament Playoffs are only 2 weeks away

For over 50 years, in every corner of the earth, the Special Olympics movement has been changing the lives of people with and without intellectual disabilities, uniting Massachusetts communities by fostering a sense of goodwill and inclusion, all through the power of sports.

Ways you can help:

Student Volunteers have many ways they can contribute to the day.

Medical Volunteers such as Dr, PAs, NPS or first aid-certified individuals for the morning, afternoon or all-day shifts are needed.

Parent Volunteers

Ways you can donate:

Donations for Special Olympics of any amount are welcome! We use these funds to pay for the custodial fees of the gym rentals as well as the supplies and food that are provided for the athletes and volunteers. All donations are fully tax-deductible. Families and individuals who give distinguished amounts of $500.00 Gold, $250.00 Silver or $100.00 Bronze will be recognized on signage at the event and in the brochure.

Please join us in celebrating the inclusive power of sports by encouraging your student to join their classmates and volunteer. ALL Weston High School students, families, friends and the Weston community are encouraged to come and cheer!

Thank you for your support!
