As many readers know, St. Peter’s Church in Weston supports a community of Afghan evacuees in Manchester, New Hampshire. There is a new challenge drive and it has to do with the Owl family’s favorite sport! Sit down, lacrosse folks.

There are eight Afghan kids who will play soccer this summer in the Manchester Angels Soccer League. The league generously offered scholarships for all of the kids. You may not know but Afghans are rabid fans of soccer and/or cricket. There is no cricket league in Manchester (though perhaps one here in Weston still? Do tell) but the kids can’t wait to start the soccer season.

To kit out the kids, the St. Peter’s group is seeking donations of grade school and middle school sizes of gently-used shin guards and cleats, soccer balls size 3, 4 and 5, water bottles, and sweatshirts (no hoodies). Boys and girls will be playing.
