Getting to Zero Green Energy Series: The Builder’s Perspective May 18

.

Our favorite neighbor to the north, the town of Lincoln, is arguably (and you know I love an argument) much farther down the road to climate awareness, pollinator friendliness, green energy, educational programs and no-mow may than our own fair town of Weston. While recent attempts at annexing Lincoln have failed because of their strong Minute Man organization (currently battling over the possible expansion of private jet flights into Hanscom, something that would probably be supported here in Weston, let’s be real), we can still take advantage of their inviting us to all their “stuff.”

In the sixth presentation of their series on Getting to Zero presented by their Green Energy Committee (https://www.lincolngreenenergy.org/), listeners will hear about the builder’s perspective on Green Building and Restoration. Can the uniqueness and beauty of historic homes be combined with 21st century efficiency standards? Is Net Zero only for new construction?

Lincolnite Mark Doughty, President of Thoughtforms Construction Company and Colin Flavin, founder of Flavin Architects will discuss their experience with respectful renovation of historic homes, particularly mid-century modern homes (Lincoln has a preponderance of these), and how renovations can meet new energy codes.

Green Building and Restoration will be presented on zoom (and will be recorded) on May 18, 2023 at 7 pm.
