Tacos at the Tavern! Golden Ball Tavern Barn Sale September 30

.

Last week when I posted about the gas station tacos, I got an immediate response from the Gibbet (GBT or Golden Ball Tavern) saying that’s all very well and good, but that we will have tacos in Weston on September 30. So, why would I possibly put up a photo of the Golden Ball Tavern (fine, here it is) when I can put up a photo of taco trucks?

.

Now, if you are not familiar with the annual GBT Barn Sale, I surmise that you are or have been living under a rock, or that you are not from here. It is fun, it is huge, and there is ALWAYS a treasure for you. You can watch this fun little youtube video with photos from past barn sales as well as a trippy, whistle-y soundtrack. Later in this post, you can find out how to donate items to the sale, and how to volunteer to help out as well. Because that is what we do, Weston, we help out, especially as requested by our number one functioning tavern in Weston (well, okay, the competition is not fierce).

Hey, and tacos. Did I mention the tacos? You have to appreciate the Gibbet–what do tacos have to do with antiquities and Isaac Jones’ history? Does anyone care? I don’t. Come for the tacos, stay for the sale. Oh wait, other way around.

GOLDEN BALL TAVERN 56th ANNUAL BARN SALE – SEPTEMBER 30, 2023

Join us for our 56th Annual Barn Sale on the grounds of our museum at 662 Boston Post Road, Weston.  Admission is FREE.  Held on the last weekend of September for over 50 years, the Golden Ball Tavern Museum Barn Sale is one of the oldest continually operated sales of its kind in New England.  It is a perennial crowd-pleaser and festive family event as well as a sure sign that autumn has arrived in New England. It is not unusual to unearth an unexpected treasure in the Barn!

The sale includes beautiful items donated by the local community who are moving, downsizing, clearing out the family attic and more. Household items and furniture in good condition, as well as fine antique pieces, are welcomed and prepared for the sale. Items include Household items, Antique and Contemporary Furniture, Oriental Rugs, Crystal, Art, Pottery, Jewelry, Vintage and Contemporary Porcelain, Original Artwork and Photography, Kitchenware, Holiday Items, Old Cameras, Old Books and More!

Think about repurposing, reusing or repainting the “gently loved” furniture and decorative items on sale in our Barn. Your purchases help support sustainability in our communities by contributing to what’s being called the “circular economy” – one that aims to keep products and materials in use!

Proceeds from the event are the primary source of funds for the ongoing restoration and development of the Golden Ball Tavern as a museum and educational resource for the public, schools, and for students of history and the history of architecture and the decorative arts.
