Pumpkinfest Set for Saturday, October 14

The annual Weston High School Pumpkin Festival will take place this year on Saturday, October 14 from 11-2 pm on the Weston Town Green (rain date is Sunday, October 15). It is the 19th year for Pumpkinfest Weston and without doubt one of Weston’ favorite annual events.. Run entirely by the Weston High School students (oh fine, there are some adult chaperones to make sure no pumpkins get launched at the JST), event proceeds benefit Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses.
There will be many Halloween and fall-themed activities, pumpkin carving, cookie decorating, a petting zoo, and many more fun activities. Children can participate in a variety of activities including arts and crafts, wish cards, games and face painting. And everyone’s favorite activity: eating…yes, there will be food.

Bring your family, choose a pumpkin, carve it with little plastic scoopy and cutty things, and bring it home. Note that the high schoolers will gut the pumpkins so you don’t need to worry about your preschooler’s mad knife skills, or your own, also the nasty feeling of pumpkin guts. I wonder if we bring the guts to be composted over at the Transfer Station? Things I don’t know and have no intention of checking…
Make sure you dress the littles in costume so they can test-run before their actual trick-or-treat!
Go ‘cats!
