Weston High School’s Boys Cross Country squad ran to a runner-up finish at the Division 3 State Championship today, November 18 at Ft. Devens. As most people know, the top five runners count towards the final score. The top finisher for Weston was senior Carsen Valenta who finished in sixteenth place with a time of 16:45. Junior Jack Tutun finished next for Weston in 18th place with a time of 16:51. The next runners in for Weston were captain senior James Osborn (39th, 17:27) and sophomore Will Cahill (49th, 17:28). Completing the top five Weston runners was junior Ben Tavares (47th, 17:43).
Parker Essential Charter School (you know, I could help them with naming, in case they care) finished first with 63 points, then Weston with 118 and third place Hamilton-Wenham with 140 points. Great work, boys!!
The girls finished in 11th place with the top finishes from junior Gabriela Friel, senior Chloe Schiller, senior Erin Huang, junior Alessandra Gavris and sophomore Jessica Bourne.
This marks the last appearance of Assistant Coach Bradford as a Wildcat–he moves on to track and cross country head coach responsibilities at the Wellesley Raiders starting after Thanksgiving. Coach Bradford will be dearly missed by both the cross country and track teams–his positivity, Br-oga, and ability to head out for a 5K after a 5K are unparalleled. Best of luck to you, coach, and see you around!
Additional thanks to all of continuing coaches with Weston Cross Country – Coach Monz, Coach V, and our very own alum wildcat, Lukas Muzila.
Go ‘cats!
