Powderpuff Game To Be Held at Proctor – November 22

The senior class powderpuff team has their annual game against Weston’s biggest rival, Wayland, on Wednesday November 22. Wayland is like Michigan’s OSU, like Harvard’s Yale, like…ummm…okay, I am so out of analogies. As we all know, Wayland is our frenemy and we love to challenge them, and they love to challenge us and most of the time we are mature enough to leave it at that. Not always. There will be no banner or mascot stealing. Behave, W-W.
The game is on Proctor field at the high school at 1:30pm (it is early release day for all Weston public schools). The game is “flag” so anyone expected a giant pile-up of non-helmet-wearing people is going to be disappointed. These athletes (and many of them play other varsity sports) have been coached by the boys football, and it looks like golf teams. Well, all have a ball of some dimensions, I suppose.
Beginning in 2022, the powderpuff game is not sanctioned nor affiliated with either Wayland High School nor Weston High School. From the Wayland e-News story in 2022: “Following discussions between Wayland High School Student Council and Weston High School administration, Wayland High School administration has upheld the decision to not hold a 2022 school-sanctioned Powderpuff game, citing liability concerns.” The game was held anyway, by the way. The Owl is not going to re-open discussion on this though she has many many comments. No one cares.
Come on out and cheer on our Wildcats! Go ‘cats!
