Arts – Performing

Film-making for Middle Schoolers Weston Art & Innovation Center

Weeklong full-day film-making camp for 6-8th graders. Campers will learn skills in scriptwriting, storyboard sketching, improvisation and camera skills. Students will write, shoot and edit a film in a genre of their choosing and edit their project together using the professional editing software Adobe Premiere. Spotlight Summer Theatre Workshop – Needham

Three week-long theatre arts camp, with two sessions during the summer. Both for ages 6-17. July focus is High School Musical, August is Legally Blonde. www.spot-light.org.

LINX Camp  – Wellesley

Brave Arts Theatre at Cambridge School of Weston

Weston Drama Workshop

Sold out, but put it in your reminder list to sign up. Traditional Day Camps

There are a number of traditional day camps in the area–though the Owl questions somewhat the definition of “traditional” around here. The Owl went to a real day camp with logs to sit on for story time, a few ponies to ride around and a lake to swim in. Camp Kiwi was the best. Anyway, depending on your level of needing extra-whizz-bangs, some will work for you, and some will not.

Weston Recreation Summer Camps

There are six weeks of fun camps run by Weston Recreation and staffed by local high school and college students. Camp ABC is for ages 4-5 and is a half day camp held at Woodland School. Camp Adventure is for rising 1st-5th graders, is full day and is held at Cambridge School of Weston. Sports

There are a number of one-sport camps in the area. Soccer is offered by most Massachusetts club teams, as well as lacrosse and hockey. Tennis and golf camps are at local public and private facilities.

Baseball skills with Weston Little League

Land’s Sake offers weekly camps for 1st grade up through 8th grade, as well as a volunteer work program for high schoolers. Farm & Forest is for 1st-3rd graders, Junior Farmers for 4th and 5th, and Green Power for 6th-8th grade.
