“Soup and Soul” at the UMC: Tuesdays Starting February 13

Okay, that’s it. It is time for me to investigate why every single event in town is happening next Tuesday. I still don’t know how I am going to be able to get from pancakes to soup to charcuterie boards (I can skip Kindergarten night) AND get to soccer momming. How, Weston? In case you didn’t know, you can find all these events on the Owl calendar here.

Here’s the latest event and it’s a goodie and a yummy:

“Friends and neighbors, starting on February 13th, the Weston United Methodist Church will host a free weekly event called “soup and soul.” This is open to anyone in the community who wants to be part of a discussion about the intersections of faith (any faith, ethos, philosophy, tradition, or spiritual path) with justice and mercy. Every Tuesday at 6:30p begins with a simple meal of hearty soup and bread (there WILL be veg and gluten-free options).

After dinner we transition to a hybrid in person/zoom discussion/book study in community at 7pm. While the book, “A Just Passion,” is coming from a Christian lens, we are hoping to have a robust discussion inclusive of folks outside of the viewpoint offered in the book. The book we are working through is available on Amazon and Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1514006758?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Again, this is open to anyone who wants to continue the discussions and social justice work our town has been engaging in through the International Day of Peace, Race Amity Day, the MLK, Jr. memorial breakfasts, and more. You can attend dinner, the discussion portion, or both. If you would like to be part of this time, please email westonunitedmethodist@gmail.com and put “Soup and Soul” in the subject.

You and I know the Owl is a sucker for dog photos

If you are lucky, you will meet Emma the UMC Pug. Where is Harry the UMC golden? Hmmm. Being a golden, probably needs to be kept far away from the eats…

The United Methodist Church is located at 377 North Avenue.
