“North Shore” – Photographs by Mark Thayer at the Rines Gallery

“Winter Marinas – Cape Ann Marina”

The Art Committee at First Parish Church in Weston welcomes photographer Mark Thayer to the Mary Jo Rines Gallery for an exhibit exploring the interplay of elements on beaches, estuaries, and rocky shores along the Atlantic coast north of Boston.

On view through June 30, North Shore features black and white and color photographs that stir the imagination and offer fresh perspectives on classic scenes. Whether they depict the drama unfolding along the shoreline or the eerie stillness of a marina blanketed in snow, Thayer’s compositions are evocative experiences, capturing the unique personality of a particular locale and the delicate beauty of a moment in time against the backdrop of a sweeping vista.

A 40-year resident of the North Shore, Thayer graduated from the New England School of Photography in Boston, Massachusetts in 1978 and opened his own studio in 1983. His commercial clients have included Bose Audio, Sperry Footwear, Titleist Golf, Bell Helmets, Raleigh Bicycles, and American Express. His work has been exhibited at The Griffin Museum of Photography, True North Gallery, and New England Biolabs, among others.
