“Reflections of METCO Students” – John Hudson Fundraiser is February 11

The annual Boston Weston METCO Parent Organization (BWMPO) John Hudson scholarship fundraiser is next Saturday, February 11 at 2 pm. This year’s presentation will feature METCO high school students and is entitled “Reflections of METCO Students: High School Student Perspectives.”  The conversation promises to be informative and engaging.  Please consider joining in the discussion at the event, and perhaps even continuing it well beyond.

Reserve your “seat” today by clicking to register here. Advance registration is required. Tickets are $30/per household and payment via Venmo @BWMPO1.  If you do not have Venmo but would like to attend, please contact Keitrice Johnson at keke927@gmail.com or the BWMPO treasurer at bwmpotreasury@gmail.com.   After regisering for the event, please don’t forget to submit your payment via Venmo. Please note that additional donations to the scholarship fund are gratefully accepted, but the most important thing is to be part of the conversation, and learn the perspectives of METCO students, many of whom have been a part of the Weston Public Schools community for years.

Scholarship funds are awarded to applicants in varying amounts according to merit, community service, and METCO involvement.  No financial information is required from parents or students.

The Scholarship is named for John Hudson who served as the Chair of the Boston Weston METCO Parent Organization for many years and was instrumental in making it possible for METCO parents to serve as part of the Weston School Committee. John was the father of three children who graduated through the METCO program in Weston. He died in 2014.

The Boston-Weston METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunities) program brings approximately 167 students, grades K-12, from Boston to Weston’s public schools. The Class of 2023 has 11 METCO students..
