Save the Date for Spring Fling and All-Town Party May 20

.

Back for its 9th year, Weston High School will take over the Town Green on May 20 from 11 am to 2 pm for the family-friendly and kid-popular Spring Fling. This event raises money for Camp No Limits, a summer camp for kids with limb loss and differences. It is run by eager and energetic high school students who are ready and willing to paint little kids’ faces with semi-permanent paint (just kidding) as well as play hide-and-seek paintball around the emergency vehicles parked around Town Green (totally kidding).

Children in grades K-5 will enjoy games, crafts, musical entertainment and activities such as face painting, a petting zoo, caricatures and cookie decorating. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be sold as well as cotton candy and popcorn. Tickets for food and activities will be available for purchase on the Town Green. More information is forthcoming but wanted to get this in there as the Spring Fling is the original festival downtown until some others muscled in (relax, I’m kidding, slightly)… please support the high schoolers and then…

Celebrate Weston will also be happening on May 20 from 11 am to 3 pm based mostly at the JST parking lot. There will be music and entertainment, “local food” (may I assume that means our four downtown restaurants?), tours of the building you paid lots of money for (omg, lighten up again!), taco trucks parked inside the JST Barn space (do I need to say just kidding? I think not) and some of your favorite local organizations will be hanging around talking about trails (ahem) and other local stuff. The Golden Ball Tavern does not wish to be left out even though it’s waaay down the street and so will up and move to the watering trough area. No, not really, but apparently there may be a draw like a flower sale down the street. Admission to Celebrate Weston is free. More information is forthcoming.

Not to be left out, the Rotary Club’s Children’s Business Fair will also be on May 20 . Apparently, there are NO OTHER DATES for anything in Weston. Take the rest of May off, Weston. I know I will because I have a wedding in Brazil. Not mine. Been there, and done that 21 years ago. Where was I? Oh yes, applications are due for participation in the third annual Children’s Business Fair which is super fun and I still have the cool dinosaur and bee soaps I bought at the last one. I am a sucker for kids. The Business Fair runs from 11 am-3 pm at Knox Park near Walgreens.

Have fun supporting all this stuff, folks, I will be a soccer mom for most of the day but will hopefully swoop in to support the kids and the teens and okay, the adults too.

Enjoy Weston’s biggest party, also known as Weston May-hem! And go ‘cats!
