Sewing Seeds for Hope at Bros. – April 27

Beduna at Work

This Saturday, April 27 from 11 am to 3 pm, Sewing Seeds for Hope will be at Brothers Marketplace in Weston. Please stop by to see the finely crafted, one-of-a-kind fabric items that will be offered. The Owl owns a number of beautiful items from Sewing Seeds and one particularly beautiful pillow is out in California brightening up a guest bedroom in Sacramento.

When you see something that appeals to you, make sure to ask about the woman who created it. Each item is handmade by an Afghan woman — and you can learn (if you so choose) about her story, about her family, and how they are adjusting to life in the US after so many years of war in Afghanistan.

Bros. Marketplace is located at 41 Center Street in Weston.

About Sewing Seeds for Hope

In the chaos that was Afghanistan in August of 2021, a large number of families who had supported the United States during the war were evacuated. Many were resettled in New England and began the difficult process of rebuilding their lives in a new and unfamiliar country. Sewing Seeds for Hope is a volunteer-run organization helping Afghan women achieve self-sufficiency. These women come from vastly different backgrounds yet share a strong desire to see their families, especially their children, succeed in their new home.
