WCL’s Bowling for Weston High School Scholarships – April 5

Okay, Weston, it’s time for your favorite community event called “Bowling for WHS Scholarships” on April 5 at 6:30 pm at the Weston Golf Club*. Please join the Weston Community League for a wonderful evening of candlepin bowling, fun games, delicious food and drink, all while raising money for scholarships for Weston High School’s graduating seniors! Go ‘cats! Go class of 2024!

If you recall from last year’s post, the Weston Community League, fka Women’s Community League, used to raise over $25,000/year (!!!!) from the clothing exchange that used to be in the Barn side of the JST, soon to be The Woods at the JST. I wonder if The Woods would consider doing a fundraiser for WCL’s scholarship fund in the future…hmmmm…candlepin bowling will be out because well, the Historic Commission would have an issue with that…but what about hide and seek in the basement? No, something historically accurate like a poker game in the attic (yes, from those Prohibition days) or guess how much cow manure was found under the elevator shaft.

By the way and in the category of “harping on with things we’ve mentioned before”, we have a great place for the WCL to do its Clothing Exchange…it’s called the Fiske Law Office and as far as I can tell, this town-owned asset is growing sad and molting dust, much like the Case Barn, the Case Schoolhouse and the Rand House on Case Estates. I do not understand why we are sitting on so much fallow town-owned real estate. Anyone? Anyone? Oops, went off the rails again.

Back to the event on April 5: If you plan on bowling (it is optional), bring your bowling shoes. And if you don’t have a pair, make sure you wear socks (street shoes are not allowed in the lanes but they are allowed in the food and drink area).

Limited spots are available! Last year this event sold out because no one, but no one, can resist pink bowling pins and the destructive joy of chucking a ball at them. Also, you and I know that the Class of 2024 deserves some scholarship support because it’s the awesomest senior class this year.

For more information and/or to register for the event, please visit wclweston.org. If you cannot attend but still would like to donate, please click here.

Go ‘cats!
