WFTA Monthly Walk Location Changed to Sears Land – April 7

Blue heron rookery at Duck Pond, Sears Land

Note: Due to updated conditions, the route of the April 7 WFTA Monthly Walk has been CHANGED to Sears Land, including Lee’s Bridge, the Duck Pond, the Heron Rookery, and the historical site of the old chair factory. The meeting place stays the same: Weston Town Hall.

Join your favorite trails organization this coming Sunday, April 7th at 2 PM on the next monthly walk, this time through the Sears Land off of Church Street (walkers should still meet at Town Hall where there is ample parking). The trail route will include some of our most beautiful and accessible trails, a gorgeous stone bridge (Lee’s Bridge), a walk past the School Furniture Factory site where an Eagle Scout and team made history come alive and then to the blue heron rookery on beautiful Duck Pond (sometimes known as Station Pond).

Walkers at Lee’s Bridge

Please note that given recent rains, and more coming, this is likely to be a very wet and mucky hike. Please wear appropriate footwear.

All ages are welcome, as are well behaved dogs on leash. Walkers need not be Weston Forest and Trail Association members, but you are encouraged to consider joining, as dues support the maintenance of Weston’s trails and open spaces. WFTA has been hosting Sunday Walks for over sixty years.

Please check the WFTA home page at www.westonforesttrail.org for any last minute changes or developments.

  • You’re such a natural and fluid writer and you reflexively avoid making each topic about yourself. You seem genuinely sincere and kind and one who puts the community’s interest—not your own self interest—at the forefront of each blog entry. I appreciate that. You’re also great at accepting criticism and you treat everyone equally and fairly.
